Carrington College has established its campus at many locations in seven populous states of the USA. The medical assistant program at the Portland campus of Carrington College lets the student earn both a certificate and associate degree. In contrast, the students may choose either the online or offline mode of classes.

The certification in the MA course holds 36 semester credits and can be finished in 36 weeks of 750 contact hours, out of which 180 hours are for the externship, while 155 hours for lab, and 415 for theory. If the student participates in the online MA program, they have to earn 35.5 credits in 840 hours. They will have to attend two externships to cover 315 hours, while the theory classes are 330 hours and the lab is 195 hours.

Suppose the student aspires for an associate degree in medical assisting from CC, Portland. In that case, they have to devote 30 more weeks to the college, complete 775 hours of theory classes and earn 60 credits to stand eligible for further exams and jobs. The college offers student loans, grants, scholarships, and many other financial aid options to support the students economically.

The students of the medical assistant program at the Portland campus of Concorde Career College can obtain a diploma as early as eight months from starting the course. They exist in eight states with seventeen campuses and deliver an associate degree at many other locations, except the Portland campus. It takes on an average of 26 students per class.

Students can be admitted to the MA program anytime since they launch new batches every month. Minimum requirements for entrance in the MA diploma course are GED or high school diploma with proficiency in the English language and Wonderlic or ORA assessment.

The course carries 26 credit points and must be completed in 800 contact hours, including 115 hours each of two externship sessions. They aim to instill professional skills in theory and technical subjects of anatomy, physiology, pathology, EKG, administration, venipuncture, medical terms, lab workings, and hospital administration.

The Portland campus of CCC institute is accredited to ACCSC, while the medical assistant program is accredited CAAHEP agency. The students can apply for loans after completing the FAFSA and FSA ID, which is a digital signature for signing forms electronically.

The Portland Community College has two campuses Cascade, and Willowcreek, in the Portland region, and offers a certificate in medical assisting program. CAAHEP, in collaboration with AAMA, nationally accredits the program. It educates the students with various clinical and administrative skills while focusing on inspiring students to enhance soft skills in dealing with patients.

The MA course is a full-time course, and students have to attend the classes in physical; however, in a few humanities subjects, a portion of the sessions are provided in online mode. The total strength of a class is not more than 24 students, which is of morning and evening batch in an admission season.

As a mandatory pre-requisite for entrance to the program, the student must be good in communication studies, scoring a high GPA in earlier attended exams. During the admission process, the students are asked to submit subjective answers to 3 – 4 questions, which are, in general, about self-awareness or healthcare.

The MA classes comprise in 9 months of completing three terms, after which the students are to attend the externship training at a close-by medical setting. The students of the medical assistant program must attain 47 credits to earn the certificate.

4. Mt. Hood Community College

The Mt. Hood Community College is a renowned institute in Oregon state, serving 18000+ students per year through its three prominent campuses; Gresham, Maywood Park, and Bruning Center. The applicants admitted in the MA Course are initially asked to undergo a criminal background check. Students must also submit vaccination proof records and pass the drug screen test.

The medical assistant program at MHCC, Portland is divided into three quarters commencing as Summer-term for front-office training with 16 credits, Fall-term for back-office training with 14 credits, and Winter-term for clinical knowledge with 12 credit points. The students develop a deep understanding of the healthcare procedures with patients and other medical essentials at clinics or medical offices. The classes are held in double shifts in the morning and evening.

Eligible candidates can apply for suitable grants and scholarships. There are several aids available in the form of federal student loans, and veteran dependents may also ask for assistance. The FWS program, or Federal Work-Study aid hosted by the MHCC, helps the qualifying students of the medical assistant school to work in a part-time job on a per-hour basis.
