The MA training program here prepares students across the 3 key learning domains, Cognitive, Psychomotor, and Affective. Once you graduate from the course successfully, you will be eligible to take theAmerican Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)’s certification exam. The retention rate for the 2017-18 cohorts stood at 91.67% (as per MAERB’s Annual Report Form).

More so, students have the opportunity to attend a quarter year-long externship at the end of the training. However, they must commit day-time hours for this passionately. You should apply by July 1 for the fall batch. Before applying, the candidates need to meet the advisor mandatorily. Once you receive an offer letter from the Health Careers office after successful selection into the program, you will be able to register for classes. Accommodation assistance and disability care and help are also rendered at the campus.

Instructed only at the Lincoln campus in Nebraska, the medical assisting program here awards a diploma to students who complete the modules successfully. The program extends over 3 semesters (fall, spring, and summer batches are in place). A key USP is that the course is on the more affordable side relative to the average medical assistant program fees across the USA. While the course is trained in person, some modules can be chosen to be completed online.

The final term shall have you work a minimum of 225 hours in a physician’s office. The total credits to complete during the MA program are 35. Federal financial aid opportunities are possible, however, it shall cover a maximum of 25 credits. The retention rate for the program (2017 cohort) was estimated at 96.2%. The exam participation rate was a perfect 100% for all SCC graduates in 2017, while 85.71% of candidates passed the certification exam successfully. SCC’s overall student success rate stands at 94%, and 87% of SCC graduates are working in Nebraska.

The school has on offer majorly a medical assisting AAS program trained at the Grand Island campus in Nebraska. An associate of applied science degree is awarded on course completion. The total credits to complete for the AAS degree is 60. The curriculum consists of required modules, which amount to 45 credits. Students are required to complete Math 0930 Practical Math or Math 0940 Pre-Algebra with at least a grade C. They should have achieved at least a C in ENGL 0970 Reading & Writing Essentials II.

Apart from the AAS degree, the school also has in place a MA certificate program. The degree awarded here is an Administrative Medical Office Certificate. Total credits to earn are 13 for the certificate. It is mainly aimed at admin-related medical assisting skills and placements. While the AAS program makes you eligible to take the AAMA’s CMA exam, the certification at the school does not. Physical capabilities such as visual acuity, swift mobility skills, and the ability to pick up and move around at least 25 pounds worth products are also sought out from the aspirants.

The medical assistance program at this school is an Associate of Applied Science. This particular program is a joint cooperative training along with Central Community College and Northeast Community College. An associate’s degree includes mandatory general education and academic support modules. These, in particular, are trained in and overseen by the Northeast Community College.

Students get a chance to practice alongside the cooperation of medical providers in the area, i.e., in and around Norfolk and Nebraska, which helps them acquire critical clinical skills from the hospitals. On course completion, the degree is granted by the Central Community College. The MA program trained here is a certificate. Students can complete the course within a short span of 12 months. One of the USPs of the school is its extensive, all-equipped laboratory. Post this, 300 hours of clinical experience is rendered at a medical setting to gear up the aspiring medical assistants even further. One other distinguishing factor about the college is that students are required to sit for the AAMA national certification MA test even before graduation for a professional certification that guarantees a secure future ahead.

Total clock hours for students enrolled in the course are 930. Classes usually operate on Tuesdays to Fridays (8:30 am to 2:30 pm) across the first three terms. In term four, sessions are usually held from 8 am to 5 pm, Mondays to Fridays. If you want to continue studying for the Health Studies associate degree, you will be able to transfer your MA certificate contact hours as credits for the same. Pre-requisites to be selected for the program include a cumulative GPA of a minimum of 2.0, GED equivalent or high school diploma, good performance across school/college in Science and Math courses, etc.
