The ECC School has two campuses, the main campus in Union and the Rolla campus. Both these locations have on offer an associate’s degree and a certificate program for medical assistants. For the evening degree, you would take 24 months to graduate, while the MA certificate is around 10 months long. If someone opts for the evening certification, 2 evenings will be class days per week with add-on 2-weekend classes per month (15 months to complete the training).

Add on modules for this degree include public speaking, humanities, allied health career development, civics, fine arts, and more. Degree total hours are 61.

The school offers a certificate program in medical assisting. The course is an accelerated set up that trains adept entrants into the world of medicine in a matter of 20 weeks. The format of teaching is hybrid. Students hence must have a computer system in place. There are face-to-face lab sessions before which the candidates must review online material and be prepared with the content. These sessions operate once a week (during the day or evenings). Another non-credit certification program for medical assistants apart from the above is Medical Administrative Assistant with an EHR degree. The program is designed in a purely online format. Though teaching is done online, the program is interactive with 200+ hours of exEMRx EHR software training. This school has a unique structure of MA training and operates the Drury GO’s Professional Enrichment Programs in medical assisting. These are non-degree courses that do not provide any academic credits. Basic requirements for acceptance into the course include at least a high school diploma or GED. Post successful completion, students may sit for the CCMA national certification exam by the NHA. Candidates would also get practical work experience at a clinical externship (arranged with local healthcare facilities). To be able to partake in this, the student should have turned at least 18.

Crowder College offers a certificate program in medical assisting. It also paves the way for the Certified MA AAS degree to be pursued later if the student wishes to. To get accepted into the program, you must submit proofs of high school diploma or equivalent and pass a personal interview. Transferring of credits is possible in this program, provided the requirements set out by the school are met for the same.
