The Minnesota West Community and Technical College offers an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) and a Diploma program for medical assistants. Before enrolling, an individual must possess a high school diploma or GED. In order to graduate, students must earn a grade C or better. The course includes medical terminology, medical office procedures, clinical procedures, laboratory procedures, pharmacology, and more. Upon graduating, the students will be eligible to take the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification exam.

With the motive of developing administrative skills and abilities in all phases of the medical field, Anoka Technical College offers an AAS degree and diploma for MAs. The college focuses on providing quality training and education to dedicated aspirants who are willing to assist healthcare professionals with different clinical duties. An eight-week externship is also provided by the college for a better on-job experience.

Lake Superior College believes in encouraging medical assistants to involve in practical training for a better experience. LSC offers a diploma for medical assistants focusing on personal development and delivering the best patient care services. The Medical Assistant Diploma program is 40 credits and can be completed in 1 year. The Graduation rates for 2019 were 88%, and the total numbers of program graduates were 21. The college job placement rate for Medical Assistant in 2020 was 93.75%.

Dakota County Technical College also offers an AAS degree and diploma for those who want a career in medical assisting. For graduating, 60 and 44 credits are required for AAS and diploma, respectively. The program helps students to perform a wide variety of tasks both in clinical and clerical settings under the supervision of physicians or any other health experts.

Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), Ridgewater College offers a 60 credit associate’s degree and a 49 credit diploma for medical assistants. The six-week practicum program prepares its students to perform different clinical and laboratory skills, including taking vital signs, administering injections, helping patients with procedures along with collecting specimens, ECG recording, medical coding and recording, and more.

Central Lakes College (CLC) provides a diploma. The program is aimed at preparing students for the future by providing appropriate knowledge about professional behaviors and attitudes along with ethical and legal boundaries with sensitivity towards patients.

The MA diploma provided by the Minnesota State Community and Technical College trains its members for all the challenges that might occur in their medical assisting careers. Apart from theoretical knowledge, the program includes 180 hours of practicum experience under healthcare experts. Upon graduating, the students will be eligible to take up the National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) certification exam.

South Central College offers an Associate of Applied Science degree for medical assistants. The program includes topics like radiography, clinical and laboratory skills, pharmacology, in-office procedures, anatomy, medical terminology, CPR, and more. It is accredited by the CAAHEP.

Accredited by the CAAHEP, Hennepin Technical College offers an MA program followed by an AAS degree and diploma. The program focuses on developing skills and abilities of a MA to prepare them for different administrative duties. The core competencies of a medical assistant should include the utilization of effective critical thinking, along with respecting legal and ethical obligations.

Century College, through its MA diploma, believes in training graduates for high demand jobs in the healthcare industry. Along with education, the college offers a 300-hour unpaid clinical externship. Graduates will be eligible to take the certification exam offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). A grade C or higher is required by the students to qualify.
