The school offers an associate’s program for medical assistants. On successful completion, students will be awarded the AAS degree. The total expected program hours are 63. The program makes the students eligible to take the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) national exam. Financial aid opportunities are available. However, students need to apply for these early. This must be done at the earliest (post-October 1) to meet the priority deadline comfortably.

2 years and 2 semesters in each are in place. Those applying for the fall semester should meet July 1 as the priority deadline, and those seeking to join in the spring semester should submit by Dec 1 (priority deadline). A Service-Learning Student Recognition Award is also in place at graduation for students to compete to achieve. On completing the courses plus achieving an overall GPA of minimum 2.0, the program is completed, and students are awarded the graduate degree.

The MA program here extends for around 12 months and is a full-time undertaking. Total clock hours are 1,296, and classes are held during the daytime only. The credential awarded is a diploma. Generally speaking, class schedules are Mondays to Fridays (8 AM to 2:30 PM). Every year, a new batch begins in September. Admission into the program can be considered competitive (based on a point system).

The program is schooled at the Main Campus, Knoxville. On successfully graduating from the training, students can sit for the Registered Medical Assistant exam (attain the RMA certificate). Another related certification that students may pursue is the Certified Phlebotomy Technician credential by the NHA. In total, expect a 3-semester schedule.

Currently considering applications for 2021 intakes, students can apply for the evening program at the main campus or the day classes at the Kimball site. The program extends for 1 year. The degree awarded to successful graduates is a medical assistant diploma. Clinical plus administrative work experience is rendered at local physicians’ offices. MAs from the program draw packages of $33,990 per year on an average (with spending only around $5.000 as a cost on the fees here). Thus, the returns are dramatic. The course is scheduled across the fall semester (holding day classes) and spring semester (holding evening classes). Only 22 seats are there for each of the batches. Students enrolled in the day and evening batches undertake a 40-hour practicum per week in the office of a physician.

Total Fall semester and Spring semester class hours are 450 each. Summer semesters have 390 class hours. Some add-on fees may be charged for special examinations, assessment for experiential learning, High School Equivalency Test – Hi-SET ($75), and Placement Test Fees – ACT ($45). In addition to the usual MA courses, modules on subjects such as Nutrition, typing and keyboarding skills, First Aid, Medical Calculations, and exam room techniques will be a part of the curriculum at the school.

Specially designed for entry-level MAs, core competencies to become an RMA are focused on in the Daymar’s MA program. Both diploma (12 months) and an associate of science degree (2 years) are in place. Total quarter course credit hours to complete are 64 and 96, respectively. Courses completed in the diploma program count towards the associate degree. All students must essentially complete the Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Three national certification exams the students via these programs are prepared for are the National Certified Medical Office Assistant (NCMOA), National Certified Insurance and Coding Specialist (NCICS), and the National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA). A total of 12 content areas are identified, including some unique learning capacities such as Business Communication, Allied Health Office Procedures & Administration, Medical Dictation, Path physiology, Personal Finance, etc. The format of teaching involves both face-to-face classes and online sessions. Both day and evening programs are in place so that students can choose to work full/part-time while pursuing the diploma.

Offering both a certificate and an associate program in medical assisting, this school is known in the state for a student-friendly, and immersive training set up. The MA certificate program (4 terms) extends for 10 months and trains across 12 courses. Credits to complete for the certificate are 48. The associate program (additional 4 terms) extends for another 10 months, i.e., a total of 20 months, and trains across 96 credits.

The certification here is 100% transferable to the associate in medical assisting. However, if you choose to stop at the certificate, you would have gathered enough skills and know-how to start as an MA within 10 months. A 160-hour mandatory externship further builds the competencies employers are seeking. Completing the program shall make you eligible for both the RMA and CMA (most recognized) credentials. Both day and evening batches are available to make it possible for working students to enroll. Classes are held in small sizes only to enhance personal attention. The associate degree also renders you the skills to work in the capacity of a phlebotomist in a physician’s or dental office.

New classes for aspiring medical assistants start every other month at this school. Expect state-of-the-art equipment and lab facilities across your certificate in MA here. Students are eligible to sit for the CMA exam by AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants). The school has related educational courses to advance your career further. Those looking to continue their education can opt for a Bachelor of Science in Health Science (Pre-Physician Assistant) degree. All across the program, candidates must adhere to OSHA guidelines taking all the standard precautions. Thus, wearing apt PPE at all times is mandatory.

The MA program offered here is an AAS medical assistant degree. Expect 1 semester of general education courses and 3 semesters of MA technical courses. Successful completion grants eligibility for the Certified Medical Assisting National Board Exam. The course extends for around 2 years (fall and spring terms in 1st and 2nd year). If you are unable to complete all prerequisite courses before the program start date, you will not be eligible to undergo the training for that year. Class sizes are limited to 14 places for aspiring students. Thus, expect a competitive admission procedure. Your selection depends on your GPA, the grades you achieve on your prerequisite courses, an essay you write on your interview day, reference letters, and interview readiness. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better must be attained in the prerequisite courses. If a student has gotten a grade low than C in any course (mandatory for the program), his/her application shall not be successful.

The Ross name is famous not only in Tennessee but all across the USA as it houses its MA program in 41 locations. The program extends for 30 weeks for daytime students and 36 weeks for evening batches, including a mandatory externship for 6 weeks. The curriculum is divided into 6 modules plus an externship at the end. The course is designed to give you the flexibility to pursue each of these modules in any order.

Some specialized courses that the program utilizes to build critical skills across specific areas include urinalysis, financial recordkeeping, mathematical applications in the medical office, medical office automation, hematology, etc. The program also makes it a point to gear up students for the CMA examination. In fact, to encourage the candidates to attain all the valuable national credentials in medical assistance, Ross reimburses graduates sitting for the Registered Medical Assistant certification exam.

In Concorde Career’s campus, two options are in place, a medical assistant Diploma and an Associate in Applied Science degree. Students can graduate with a diploma within 8 months. Cross-training is focused on, and both daytime and evening classes are possible. Total contact hours are 720 with 30 weeks of training if enrolled full-time. Students must complete 29.33 semester credits.

A total of 240 lab hours and 240 extern hours make up the chunk of your total learning here. The associate program extends for around 18 months, i.e., 70 weeks of training if studying full-time. Total contact hours for this degree are 1,215, and credits to complete are 62.33. Theory hours in this course are 750.

A name well-known in the realm of healthcare, Fortis operates its training programs all around the USA. Fortis Institute renders a medical assistant diploma program that stretches for 780 contact hours, 46 quarter credits and can be completed in 36 training weeks. Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for the CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) exam by NHA. This MA program renders its students legal facets of OSHA regulations, HIPAA requirements, universally recognized precautions, etc.

At the end of the term, candidates go through an extensive externship of 180 hours (6 credit hours), which imparts hands-on experience within clinical setups. Full guidance is provided, and those needing extra help (such as with homework given) are attended to wholeheartedly.

Offering both a diploma and an associate degree in medical assisting, this school understands the importance of getting a national certification, and hence the expense of taking the Certified Clinical Medical Assisting (CCMA) exam (first attempt only) is included in the program fee. Moreover, even the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification fee is included in the program fee. The diploma program is around 9 months long. One of the 9 modules of the program, in the end, would give you hands-on experience as part of an externship. However, students may attend this externship only on completing all modules with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.

Once enrolled in the course, your tuition fee would be fixed (no increases in between the program). A key USP is that Remington may also accept transfer credits in qualifying cases (only accredited courses from reputed universities or colleges). Only up to 50% of the total credit requirement of the degree can be filled by the transferred ones. Transferring of credits is considered only when a grade C or better has been achieved by the student. Official transcripts from the credit rendering previous university or college are needed to be sent.

Expect to complete a diploma in MA here. The program takes around 13 months to complete. The format of teaching is a hybrid track type of instruction.
